Even San Diego California has foreclosures

Now that we are in the middle of winter, that beach front condo sure does look nice. I was thinking this exact thing this morning during my commute through the ice covered streets of my city. The sad part about living in most parts of the country is that is gets really really cold. Wait; almost all parts of the country get cold.

Oh that I could live in a Mediterranean climate and bask in warmth all year long. San Diego would be just the place for people who want the same as me. If only I lived there, I would never have to deal with icy roads again.

But that’s not to say San Diego hasn’t had its share of problems in the recent past. We might be tempted to think that they would be immune to the real estate problems that are happening in the rest of the country, but that would not be true. Even a sunny San Diego foreclosure is not that hard to find in this bad economy. Granted there may not be as many of them as in other harder hit parts of the country, but there have been lots of foreclosures and short sales in San Diego.

So should you give up on your dreams of moving there some day? I think not. By the time you go there, I’m sure things will be fine. Then you can buy your house and enjoy the sun and the surf. But be sure to be buy a house you can afford, or else it will be housing problems all over again.
